Can you use 716 osb for flooring

Newer construction has floor joists spaced at 16 inches on center. You will need to determine the spacing before installing the joists, or measure the distance between joists for existing construction. CDX plywood is traditional wood plywood made from thin layers of lumber, known as veneers.

Glue is sprayed between each layer and the sheet is hot pressed. Oriented strand board, or OSB, is a wood structural panel that can also be used for flooring.

I had a brain fart and ran the subfloor the wrong way parallel to the joists. So, I ran a second layer perpendicular Nice and stiff.

Start with a two foot piece not a four foot. PassnThru said:. The Cobbler Super Moderator Staff member. Dissident said:. Joined Oct 29, Messages 1, Location Northeast.

I don't think its necessary to alternate the directions, just overlap the seams. Walkable but a spongy mess. If I didn't have to worry about satisfying an inspector I'd do it. I don't think running the second layer the opposite way adds anything as long as you stagger the joints but I would go with the glue as it would make me feel better.

In my mind gluing them together would be close to using one piece twice as thick. MadMechMaster Well-known member. Sounds like a mezzanine inside a pole building. Using what you have already is probably fine.

What's New? Results 1 to 5 of 5. I am in the process of remodeling the house and am getting ready to put down some laminate floors. The house was a rental for a long time and the floors have a lot of dog urine spots.

It also has some low spots too. To address this I was thinking i would use a resin self leveling compound as the area is small maybe 2'x5". However, even enhanced OSB panels can swell significantly when wetted, and are at risk of mold and rot while they remain wet. Thus OSB should be protected from wetting during construction whenever possible.

I was doing testing on the effects of edge swell telegraphing through roof shingles with a couple engineers from major lumber companies way back about , and can even tell you that the edge swelling is not even the major cause of seeing the OSB through the shingles. In fact, I am in the middle of some more documentation on this problem on a 33 year old roof experiment that won't get done until the snow is gone next spring. I am a general contractor as well as having an electrical license along with other professional licences and credentials.

I was doing full engineering calculations for houses that went through the city review department by the time I was I spent several days at several different building departments around explaining to the plan examiners how the engineering hadn't changed from the previous versions of code books when they switched to the ICC codes, but rather they were just missing it before because they were not doing all the math.

Now it is just easier to see because it is in a chart form. Just because I don't choose to use Houzz's help forum as a business advertising platform, a means of self promotion, or a way to interject "hire a professional" into every DIY discussion, doesn't mean I am not a professional, just one with higher standards that knows a lot more than you. I am not old, nor do I live in Texas. I don't even sit at home to do this. It is all done on my phone.

Just shows how little you know. Indem Sie weiterhin auf der Website surfen bzw. Mehr erfahren. Bathroom Fixtures. Dining Furniture. Sign In. Join as a Pro. Houzz TV. Houzz Research. Shop Featured Holiday Categories. Home Decor.
