Properties open when double click

Double-clicking on desktop icons opens the Properties menu. I can right-click and choose Open, but I can't type anything because, again, it is acting as though the Alt key is being pressed, i. I can log on as this user, and for the first while there is no problem, but then suddenly it will start happening.

If I log in as a different user, I still have the same problem. I have scanned my computer with Ad-Aware SE and deleted any viruses found. Any help is greatly appreciated. Share Flag. All Answers.

Help, not sure what caused this, but how do I return it to normal settings? I feel like a fool for somehow triggering this and being unable to undo it.. Your left click works fine otherwise?

I'm thinking it might be that you swapped the left and right buttons? Although double clicking the right button doesnt open properties I never really liked the My Computer or My Documents icons Is is possible that your Alt key is stuck? Double-clicking 'My Computer' while holding Alt does exactly what you are experiencing Hi, Press ALT button.

Alt key thing worked for me : I don't know how it got stuck on my laptop but I just pressed on both alt keys so the problem resolved. This is so funny though! Wednesday, January 15, PM.

You have a stuck "Alt" key on your keyboard. Replace keyboard. Sunday, February 2, PM. But a simple reboot resolved the issue for me. It might have been a system update side issue, I don't know. It is very simple. Thursday, December 24, PM. It was the ALT key. Tuesday, March 1, PM. Same problem on Win7. It was the CTRL key in my case. Wednesday, March 9, AM. Haha that was it for me somehow. Tuesday, May 10, PM. Thursday, December 29, PM. Hi, Sticky Keys might have been turned on.
