Last edited: Aug 15, Dear Paran, For us Iyers , vittam kazhinjaettam naal gokulashtami.

It means we are much concerned about the thithi. Iyengars follow Avani rohini. That actually comes this year, one month later. We celebrated avani avittam itself in AADI month this year. During, Agnatha vasa mahabaratha , duryodhana found dharma a day before itself. But, dharma will say to him better you consult bhishma regarding this. He will be clarified then about circles of time. It is like that things will hapen sometime this year everything has been changed. Even under normal circumstances, Gokulashtami that is ashtami and Shri jayanthi or pancharathra jayanthi rohini will mostly wont coincide.

Might be they will come in succeeding days. Similar for Karthigai deepam also. Nara Well-known member. Click to expand Am sorry for that Nara. But the thing is mostly it won't coincide with Iyers.

Am I right??? Might be a day after they will celebrate. Am not sure about the reason, if what you said is correct. There are a consecutive functions for this, Shri jayanthi, pancharathra jayanthi, Munithraya jayanthi almost 3 different days they fall. I am not sure about the reason, if they are not differing from thithi and star.

A prominent ritual which requires forming a human pyramid, known as dahi handi, is also synonymous with the celebrations. The person on the top breaks an earthen pot which is placed at a significant height. Temples are decorated and devotees pray on this auspicious day.

May the Natkhat Nand Lal always give you happiness, health and prosperity and may you find peace in Krishna consciousness. May Natkhat Nandlal always make your life colourful with lively pranks that keep you on your toes and instills and evokes child-like traits in you, at all times.

Let's celebrate Lord Krishna's Birth. Sending you my heartfelt good wishes on this auspicious day of Janmashtami. So the authorities of various sections of Hindus, have adopted their own criterion for celebration. Broadly, there are two different opinions within the Sri Vaishnava tradition concerning this matter. One can be called the 'mannAr' tradition, the other the 'tOzhappar' tradition.

In a nutshell, the difference stems from lunar vs. The mannAr tradition is followed by Sri Parakala Matham and 'munitraya' tradition Sri Vaishnavas such as both Andavan Ashramams and most Vadagalai acharya-purusha families.

It is named after one mannAr svAmi of unknown date who is the first extant authority arguing for this calculation. It is named after Sri Vaidika Sarvabhauma Swami, also known as Kidambi Thozhappar, who wrote a detailed text establishing the reasoning behind his tradition. Having briefly laid out the history, here are the differences themselves. The tOzhappar tradition is simpler so I will lay it out first.

However, on that day, not even a tiny bit of saptamI should exist post-sunrise, nor should there be any kRttikA nakshatram. This need not happen in the solar month of AvaNi. There are 12 more cases in the mannAr tradition which get quite complicated.
