Why are entertainers overpaid

Money is what makes the world go round and is what this whole issue is about. The people who don 't agree that Professional athletes get paid too much do have some valid points. But, they are no where near. Some athletes sponsor charity events and lend their fame to fundraisers, while others spend their money partying and living a very lavish lifestyle.

Despite a common belief that athletes are grossly overpaid, the fans continue to crave entertainment and thus provide them with the money. Athletes are overpaid. Unlike doctors, policemen, firefighters, teachers and other occupations that are necessary for order and safety on a daily basis.

In the present time athletes are being paid phenomenally large amounts of money for their entertainment. It is my claim that all professional athletes are overpaid because they do not offer society an essential function that improves or enhances our world in comparison to other professionals such as medical doctors, lawyers, and teachers. Society does not value entertainment enough to warrant such high salaries such as those of many professional athletes.

There is no reason that these athletes should demand these tremendous amounts of money. For as long as I can remember, I have heard people complaining about how much money professional athletes make. They say that these athletes don't deserve to make that much money for simply playing a game. People even get angry when they hear how much professional athletes are making in new contracts.

The athletes are not being paid public money. An athlete's entire career could end in a split second. Some people believe that athletes are overpaid because they are just playing a game, however the truth is professional athletes are not overpaid.

Their work improves our lives, and their salary should reflect their work and determination put into the many projects created. The knowledge, money, and spending habits contribute to the fact that they are being paid extensively for playing a sport.

Having extensively long contract is not necessary. Many come in having the dream of being the biggest stars without knowing what the price they end up having to pay. The American Dream Money, fame, and promiscuity are the three main components of the American Dream, and what better way to get to that level than through music?

The truth is, almost any other profession has a higher statistical chance of achieving this goal. Musicianship is a nearly impossible career plan to survive with. An artist will spend incalculable hours learning and mastering their craft, only to be oppressed by the community. But according to Luara Ferracioli, a lecturer in political philosophy at the University of Sydney, some well-paid careers — like acting and modelling — come with a trade-off, particularly for women.

Sexist stereotypes don't just exist in Hollywood and the fashion industry. They can be found in our mainstream workforce, too, explains Ms Phelan. She says feminists believe it's no coincidence that lower paid jobs, like nursing, teaching and early childhood education, tend to be the ones that are dominated by women. Of course, the idea that women are inherently awesome at caring for others is, thankfully, outdated.

But the accompanying belief that because women are born-nurturers we don't need to pay them or pay them well has endured. If current salaries are anything to go by, teaching children or looking after the elderly must be an absolute cinch. Angie Hobbs, professor of the public understanding of philosophy at the University of Sheffield, says our contemporary attitudes towards who deserves what pose serious moral concerns.

Professor Hobbs warns that lower-paid professionals, like teachers, nurses and social care workers, may subscribe to these limiting beliefs, too. For example, Dr Ferracioli says the low wages of childcare workers actually degrades the quality of early education.

These workers can play an important role in their moral education, in the development of important social skills and excitement about learning. For Dr Ferracioli there's another fundamental flaw in our current economic system: it's unfair for some people to reap profits and others to scrape by because, ultimately, every role matters.

Dr Ferracioli says, whether we realise it or not, we're able to do our jobs because of the "army of people" who clean the streets, make the train run, care for our children and perform other "less valued" tasks. If you're not a CEO, HR person or manager, the wealth gap might seem like someone else's problem, but according to our experts, we all play a part. Through following celebrities' social media accounts or buying the products they endorse, we're contributing to the enormous wealth of the elite.

Social media scrolling can be a passive activity, but it's worth considering 'Do I want to support this person or this ideology? But economic inequality won't be resolved by simply following a bunch of nurses and childcare workers on Instagram — so what can we actually do to help? Ms Phelan says we can support those workers in lower-paid professions when they ask for higher wages or better conditions.

Where is the fairness in that? I agree that most celebrities work hard to reach where they are, but so do many others. For instance, policemen or firemen, and even regular employees; and quite frankly, these hard-working people are much more useful to society than actors or singers etc.

Therefore, in my opinion, celebs are overpaid. Celebrities get paid more than what they are worth. Nearly all celebrities are very much overpaid and their talent a huge overestimation. They don't contribute much to society unlike doctors or firefighters. They take a lot of time and effort to get to where they are but they still get paid to much. Yes I think they're overpaid for what they're worth. A lot of celebrities today don't really have talent but it's their 'looks' that makes them famous.

Do you ever why money is vanishing? They're spent on the celebrities' own pleasures! Nearly all celebrities are very much overpaid and their talent a HUGE underestimation. They are getting paid for more than what they are worth! They are nothing but vacuous souls wasting our resources and time.

That is all. Yes I think celebrities are way overpaid. Of course it takes hard work and talent to be at where they are but compared to average people, celebrities are overpaid. There are a lot of people with the same amount of talent and dedication making less than a fraction of what celebrities make because they got unlucky or did not know the right people in the business.

How on earth can this be allowed? It makes a totall mockery of the genuinely working class, It can't be justified and it angers me no end when they are then flaunting pictures of themselfs on a tropical holiday for the 4th time that year ot showing off their cars or the absurd amount they spent on a new dress for some eqaully shallow awards show, The rich get richer and the poor gets poorer what with benefit cuts and everything else, There is a massive devide, Cellebs scandoulous wealth is totally unwarrented its despicable what they earn.

Celebreties are not overpaid because they work extremly hard to give us intertainment and work till the movie or song is perfect a movie could take more than year to film just so that we can enjoy it.

David Beckham gave alot of his money by playing football away to give to charity. If u want to be a good actor or musician, you have to train hard and it will make you lost your quality time with your family and when they shoot their film, they will definitely lost their sleeping time because of their tight shooting schedule and many more. Celebrities are getting paid a lot but all they do is for us to enjoy.

They get a lot of money because they work theyr ass off for us to enjoy ourselves. For example, they make movies for us to whatch at the cinema or at home and they make great songs for us to listen to. In the end i think it is important for them to get paid a lot. Celebrities are paid what the market demands. They aren't taking the money at gunpoint. If there wasn't a desire for their services, they wouldn't be getting the money. There is no doubt that most celebrities also work hard for their money.

One could argue that others deserve to paid high compensation, too, but that doesn't make celebrities overpaid.

I do not think that celebrities are overpaid. Not in the least. Just like everyone else, they earn the money they make and deserve it. Who am I or anyone to say someone get's paid too much.
