You just have to be an attentive driver, which most Germans are. They pass only on the left and actually go over to the right when it's clear to do that. They have very tough car exams every year TUF that make sure their tires and brakes are up to snuff.

The problem with speed here in the USA is all the drivers doing their crossword puzzles and texting on their Apples. I've driven over there for hours at a time at MPH when the roads are clear and felt as safe as driving here at Now when you first get to Europe, they just hand you the keys to a rental, and for the first month or two, you are the most dangerous drivers over there. Time for a track day You'll be driving flatout in no time.

Your "German driving pedigree" means nothing on US streets. It actually seems more like a liability to everyone around you because you think you are qualified, and entitled to drive as fast as you can. Calling me an idiot is kind of stupid on your part. I hardly ever speed in the USA 5 over is pretty much my limit. My "Point" to my post was that most Americans think "speed" is the, end all, to dangerous driving. As long as your tires are rated to the speed you are going a blow out is much over rated.

In Europe on the AB, your speed limit is the speed limit of your tires and they will give you a ticket if you exceed that. I still claim that inattentive American drivers are what cause most accidents here, not speed in general.
